No. In Ontario you can book physiotherapy directly without a doctor’s referral. Some insurance plans require one for reimbursement, so it’s worth checking your policy — and we’re happy to help if you’re unsure.
It depends on your condition, but as a general guide: minor issues often improve within 2–4 visits, moderate injuries typically take 6–8, and chronic or post-surgical cases usually need longer. We reassess your progress regularly and never book you in for more than you need.
Some treatments and exercises may cause mild, temporary discomfort, but your physiotherapist works within your comfort level and adjusts as needed. The goal is always to reduce your pain, not add to it.
